WE NEED YOU for a Hunter Valley coal survey: Sat 10th March

Lock The Gate and the Hunter Central Rivers Alliance are conducting a door-to-door survey across the Hunter Valley. We want to know what local people think about the coal industry, and whether it has (or should have) a future in the region.

Already, we've interviewed hundreds of Hunter residents and found that 9 out of 10 of them want a plan for a post-coal economy in the Hunter.

What do local residents think about the impacts of coal-mining on their towns, their families, and their region? Are the benefits worth the costs? Should the coal industry be allowed to keep expanding? Does the Hunter need a plan to transition to a post-coal economy?

On Saturday 3rd March, and again on Saturday 10th March, we'll be walking the streets of Singleton to ask local people these questions, and invite them to a free community event to start planning for a post-coal Hunter.

Our door-knocking survey is run by volunteers. The more door-knockers we have, the more people we can talk to. Joining one of our Hunter door-to-door survey events is a fantastic way to gain an understanding of the issues facing local people in coal communities, and to help build a better future for the Hunter.

You don't need to be an expert on coal, you just need to care about what local people think. We door-knock in teams, with a simple pre-prepared survey. It's easy and fun, and all our previous door-knockers have loved the experience.

RSVP to this event, and we'll be in touch with more information. If you have your own vehicle, we'll meet you in Singleton at 10am on the Saturday morning. If you need a lift from Newcastle or Sydney, we can help.
