Your Community

The heart and soul of Lock the Gate is its local groups. Are you an active part of protecting your community from coal and coal seam gas? Here are some ways to get involved:

Lock your Gate: it all starts here. Get a sign up on your gate and declare your home off-limits to coal and coal seam gas.

Your Local Council: work with your local group on approaching council to request that it actively defends the community from invasive coal and coal seam gas development.

Forming Action Groups: getting involved in community groups is a new experience for many people, this page offers some tips on how to form and maintain effective community groups.

Mining Free Communities: here you'll find resources on the unique community democracy process that is seeing communities work road by road and valley by valley, to protect the places they love where governments refuse to do so.
