After more than a decade of opposition to the mine, farmers are facing a huge challenge to stop Stage 3 taking their groundwater and with it, their livelihoods.

In October 2022, the Queensland Government granted New Hope’s Acland coal mine extension its Associated Water License, the final approval it needs to start mining New Acland Stage 3.

In a last ditch effort to stop the mine, the community is exploring all legal options.
