PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED.
During the strike on Friday, a group of us will be joining up outside the office of the Independent Planning Commission at about 2.30pm (or whenever the march reaches the IPC's office, just near its end in Hyde Park).
This will be a short gathering to thank the Commission for their decision to protect the gorgeous Bylong Valley from KEPCO's mine.
The NSW Independent Planning Commission refused consent, citing its unacceptable impacts on groundwater, heritage and some of Australia’s best agricultural soils.
The Commission also made it clear that the mine would have been contrary to the principle of intergenerational equity and that it would contribute to climate change.
Please meet us at the IPC office at the corner of Park St and 201 Elizabeth Street [this is basically where the Climate Strike march will finish] at about 2pm or 2.30pm (or as you arrive there at the end of your march) to help thank the IPC.
If you would like to leave a message for the Commission for making this decision to thank them for sparing the Bylong Valley from despoilment by coal mining, you can do so here.
