Lake Eyre Basin contains some of the last free-flowing desert rivers on earth. The Cooper Creek in particular forms extensive braided channels, known as the Channel Country, and flows into Kati Thanda/Lake Eyre in major flood events. The rivers and floodplains have extraordinary cultural significance for First Nations peoples who have cared for these landscapes for thousands and thousands of years.

The Queensland Government is currently asking for community views on whether to protect these precious rivers and floodplains in South West Queensland from new gas developments.

So, we need your help to get as many people as we can to put in submissions during this consultation period!

You’ll be calling Lock the Gate supporters who haven’t made a submission yet. They should be friendly and easy calls. So, come along to our office at 1/28 Donkin Street West End where we will provide training, a call script and some nibbles, and let’s get calling!
