Premier Miles, a note of thanks for the protections enshrined for the Channel Country Rivers region. Our natural wonders belong to all Australians, and not to be exploited by private interests for their own gain, with minimal recompense to the commonwealth.

Again, thank you. I hope you will continue to stand up and protect our natural heritage.

    Dear Premier Miles,

I want to thank you for having the courage to ban fracking on the incredibly special and unique channel country. This is the only way to protect the rivers, including the Murray, the wetlands, and all the biodiversity they contain and support. These are irreplaceable shared resources that can’t be offset or rehabilitated by the companies that have argued in favour of fracking.

Although I (and many others) live far from the Channel Country in Queensland, we know its value now and far into the future, especially as climate change continues to create huge challenges in so many ways. As a country we must all make decisions that will benefit us in the short and long term, and you have shown what government can do. I/we applaud you and wish you every success in achieving your other goals as Premier.

Many, many thanks and all best wishes to you, your family and your government for 2024,

    Dr MA Ferland

You are amazing to stand your ground against destructive companies who want to destroy our beautiful country for money and greed

Hoping to hear more news like this in our quest for saving our nature

Thankfully common sense and an understanding of the true importance of our fragile river systems has prevailed.

Many Thanks for helping this be a positive outcome at last.

What heartening news it was to learn that one of your first actions as Premier was to protect Channel Country from fracking. To take a stand in defence of precious Country like this is necessary and courageous. Thank you so much for acting wisely and decisively at this time.

I wish to thank you on behalf of myself and my entire family for protecting the Channel Country Rivers from new oil and gas production.

We are all extemely concerned about the effects of climate change – droughts, fires, floods, and famines resulting in increased migrations – that present and future generations will have to deal with. Your protections will go a tiny way in mitigating these effects.

    Yours sincerly,

    Jane Minor

    Dear Premier

This is a wonderful first step in your administration. Please keep this up and show every Australian that you really understand the negative impact that coal and gas powered energy has already brought to our climate. I don’t live in QLD but I firmly believe that we need to make the required changes to how we source our power now, not in five or ten years or by 2050. Now, if we are going to make any difference at all.
