    Dear Premier Miles,

I do not live in Queensland but in NSW, however, I wanted to congratulate for the announcements you have made since coming to power. As a Science teacher and mother I am very concerned about Climate change and the impacts that humans have on the environment and biodiversity.

Your announcements of a new emissions reduction target of 75% below 2005 levels by 2035 and the ban new oil and gas developments in the Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre basin’s rivers and floodplains is wonderful news for the environment and it is great to see you leading the way.

Thank you and continue the great work for the environment.

    Kind regards

At last! A leader prepared to be leading. It has to be. No longer want to hear the usual reminders, “But what about the others ?” Someone has to lead. Someone has to be THE example!

Thank you so much Premier Miles for protecting the Chanel Country and our planet.

I hope you will also consider saving the Bundaberg Region from Fox Resources proposed coal mine, so close to the coast and the Southern Great Barrier Reef and near one of Australia’s most important food bowls.

    Kindest Regards

Dear Premier Steven Miles, it is with heartfelt gratitude I write to congratulate your government on taking the sustainable non-toxic decision to protect the Channel Country Rivers Waters System from the fossil fuel companies/lobby interests.

WATER IS OUR MOST PRECIOUS ASSET, protecting it in all of its forms whether as above ground rivers or underground water distribution and storage systems, all are of vital importance to this Remote and Regional area.

I hope that future water protection issues are always carefully considered for the long term impact they can have on arid environments and the people dependent, on these only underground available water supplies, having potable water remaining free of toxic contamination by fossil fuel or any other mining operations.

Bearing in mind this has been an important step in protecting heritage sites for Indigenous Communities, it bears remembering that Doongmabulla Springs sacred site also faces issues with protecting its water sustainability, again under fossil fuel industry impact from coal mining.

As mentioned above, WATER IS OUR MOST PRECIOUS ASSET, and with Climate Change threatening communities from one end of Australia to the other with Extreme Weather Events and including uncertainties of water availability, it is vitally important to embed Water Protection in government policy as our highest priority.

Handing over megalitres of water resources for no return all the while risking contamination of water supplies is absurd economics and environmentally devastating.

Sustainability of the Environment must be at the core of any development. For far too long detrimental impacts from mineral extraction have been allowed to accumulate, with some 80,000 abandoned mine sites(many still with toxic waste impacting the environment) blighting the countryside.

Thank you very much for protecting the Queensland Channel Country Rivers Waters/System, I hope that Protecting Water will be a major priority for all Queensland governments

    yours sincerely,

    Paul Ford
