Join the rally to protect our drinking water

12pm Tuesday December 8
The NSW Planning Assessment Commission (PAC) has called a meeting on December 8 to hear public views on the expansion of Wollongong Coal’s underground mine in our water catchment area.
Wollongong Coal wants to expand coal mining in our drinking water catchment, but the company has a record of financial instability, technical incapacity, and frequent breaches of the conditions of its mining licence.
Mining in water catchment areas is always risky because it threatens our drinking water supply. There will also be big local impacts, including dust, noise and thousands more trucks.
Come to the rally to protect our water
Join us to rally for our water at 12 midday on December 8 at WIN Stadium in Wollongong.
Bring a sign or placard for a big community photo to show your opposition to mining in our precious drinking water catchments.
Have your say at the public hearing
Make your voice heard by registering to speak briefly at the public hearing. All speakers are assigned a time slot: 5 minutes for individuals, 15 minutes for groups. You need to register by 1pm Friday December 4 by calling 02 9383 2112 or emailing [email protected]
You don’t need to know everything: just speak about your concerns relating to the project. You can speak on issues like biodiversity and environment, noise and blasting, economic and social impacts, air quality, climate change and more.
Make a submission to the Planning Assessment Commission
We are calling for the Planning Assessment Commission (PAC) to reject this proposal. Please make a submission on the Russell Vale Colliery Underground Expansion Project to [email protected] by 8 December 2015.
