A reform bill is going through parliament but it isn’t strong enough- as it stands loopholes will allow vast empty pits and waste dumps to remain the status quo. Many of these are perpetually draining the surrounding groundwater, creating toxic lakes and polluting surrounding ecosystems and farmlands.
