Where would you rather see our taxpayer money invested?

The Government wants to frack, but what does Australia want?

We’ve put together a letter you can sign below and add your ideas for the Federal Government on what they could do with our hard-earned tax dollars.

Please add your name and give us your ideas for where you’d rather see your tax dollars spent.

To Federal Parliamentarians, Ministers, Departments,

We are alarmed and disappointed to see the Federal Government now rolling out a suite of actions to prop up expensive and dangerous gas fracking across Australia without any proper public accountability.

As voters and concerned Australians, we ask that you hear our message - do not spend our money on gas fracking projects and big new gas pipelines.

Farmlands, water resources and the climate can’t afford to keep propping up polluting gas.

It’s time for Australia to grow stronger and tool up to embrace cleaner energy and storage.

There are a multitude of ways the Government could take a smarter approach to the Covid recovery. The Australian community has many ideas on how we can boost agriculture, tourism, First Nations opportunities, community health and disaster relief.

We know we can create jobs by genuinely supporting diverse Australian businesses, not throwing our money at the gas fracking industry.

We see huge opportunities to help Australia to get off polluting and expensive gas into the future, to modernise our power and heating and to save on gas and energy bills.

I ask that you oppose the measures being rolled out to fast-track gas fracking, including the ill-considered and secretive National Gas Infrastructure Plan, and take on board our ideas for how the money could be better spent.

Yours sincerely,

Please add some comments.

Australia’s climate change actions have been a disgrace. Make the immediate switch to renewable energy projects.

Support renewable energy and electric vehicles. Stop supporting Australia’s dependence on fossil fuels.

I would love to see more money spent on renewable energy and incentivising people and companies to switch to more environmentally conscious options. Hasn’t the climate in the world in the past two years alone made it clear that something needs to change?

Fund renewables we’re already seeing the effects of climate change and can’t keep ignoring the problem

These ‘welfare’ payments to unsustainable business ventures (eg gas fracking and coal fired power) such that even investment funds are getting out…are damaging the environment and the livelihood of all future generations in ALL ways. It is short term survival policy but we require LEADERSHIP from Statesmen/women. Australia has been sorely lacking this from many sides of parliament but I HOPE and PRAY that one government can show the leadership required to make a difference to history. Spend the money on making Australia a dynamic and smart country! WE once were!! Still can be if we don’t sell ourselves down the non existent river…..

What an utter disappointment to see the PM who should be, and is being begged to, lead the country to renewable energy have such a cop out to justify this new plant.

Your generations may not perhaps feel dramatic effects but mine and those younger/future generations do. Coal miners need to be adapting to renewable energy and supported in that process, if smokers say they don’t want their right taken away to smoke we don’t continue to subsidize the process and support it, we continue the phase out as much as possible. Let alone $600 million to build a plant that will reek fossil fuels into the atmosphere and soils, when we have stranded Aussies still abandoned overseas and feeling stateless and unwanted, yet holding a wealth of unappreciated experience and knowledge they want to share with their country.

I have never been so upset with the Liberal party, who I have supported my whole life until the past few years, nor am I impressed with other parties being sterotypical cliches waiting for the other to speak to debate – instead of providing solutions. Farmland should not continue to be developed on until non-viable agricultural land is, and old buildings remodelled – again a simple solution to assist the agri region and protect our land to assist with tourism, quality of life, let alone the obvious slowing on climate change.

Climate change is not a future problem. We are pleading for basic common sense.
