A candlelight vigil to commemorate the life of George Bender, a Chinchilla farmer who took his own life last week, after a 10-year battle with Origin Energy to keep Unconventional Coal Seam Gas off his land. The hour long vigil is being held at 6.00 pm on Thursday 22 October, 2015 at the Holloways Beach shelter shed next to the playground near Strait on the Beach café. Bring along candles, any signs you can make, a chair if you need it and musical instruments of your choice. The Far North Knitting Nannas Against Gas as part of a nationwide vigil, to stand in solidarity with the people living in the gas fields, and to tell governments that enough is enough, hosts the hour-long vigil.
