Tell the federal government that we want a renewables-led recovery

We know that we need renewables NOT gas for a sustainable, healthy future for our communities, our environment AND our economy.

We can't let our government keep propping up this destructive industry. It’s time we invested our money wisely on safe and sustainable industries, and towards a clean energy future.

Tell the federal government that we want a renewables-led recovery!

    The call went well

    Stop the Gas Attack

The Australian Government has announced plans to hand over millions of taxpayer dollars to the gas industry for big new fracking gas pipelines and gas infrastructure. This commitment follows relentless pressure from the National Covid Commission and their fossil fuel industry members.

Our Federal decision makers need to hear from you on this. We can’t have them getting all their advice from the gas industry, and miss out on hearing your voice.

Will you call or email your MP right now?

How do I contact my federal Member of Parliament? Just follow this Link to the Parliament of Australia website – enter your postcode to be taken to your lower house MP. You will find an email address and a phone number for your MP.

Here are some ideas of what you can to say in your email/call:

-I’m concerned the Federal Government is about to give handouts of taxpayer money to the gas industry.

-The Australian public should NOT be paying for gas industry pipelines, infrastructure or buying gas directly from new fracking gasfields. The Queensland Hunter Gas Pipeline, the NT Beetaloo Fracking Pipeline and Bowen Basin pipeline would put farmers and Traditional Owners directly at risk.

-Gas is a bad investment. Our money shouldn’t prop up the gas industry. It puts farmers and regional communities in the firing line for new gasfields and fracking.

-We can create more jobs and opportunities if we support manufacturing and agribusiness to electrify and use plentiful renewable energy. We can switch away from gas.

-The Government could help homes and small businesses install renewables, get energy efficient, and invest in storage. We don’t need more gas and fracking gasfields.

    Tips for calling:

    • Call the Electorate Office number - this should take you through to a staff member.
    • When you call, remember to be polite, friendly and calm. You will probably speak to a staffer, so just ask them to take down your message.
    • Introduce yourself and mention you live in your MP's electorate.

Please call and email the Treasurer Josh Frydenburg and let him know how you feel too

    PH: (02) 6277 7340          EMAIL

Thanks for reminding our government to represent all of our interests, not just the gas industry.

Share this page to encourage your friends to call and email too!

We would love to know what the MPs said - and we always welcome input. Please leave a comment below and tell us how you went.

    Bylong Fighting Fund

Please chip in to get the magnificent Bylong Valley protected from big coal, for good!

Chip in to support farmers and communities to:

    1. Fight back against power giant KEPCO as they launch a legal challenge against the refusal of the Bylong coal project
    2. Help get permanent protection from mining for the extraordinary rich soils mapped as Biophysical Strategic Agricultural Land at Bylong and across the state
    3. Properly recognise and restore Tarwyn Park as the crucible of Natural Sequence Farming in Australia

In September 2019, the Independent Planning Commission refused approval for the Bylong coal mine in October 2019.

But the company is now appealing the decision in the Land and Environment Court and the NSW Government has still done nothing to provide long-term protection.

This isn’t over yet!  We are so close to getting this place protected for good, but we need one last push.  Can you chip in to our fighting fund and help us get this one across the line, once and for all?

    Stop the Narrabri gas project

Help us combat Morrison’s dangerous push to bribe state governments to unleash fracking and CSG across the country.

Our communities are calling for renewable energy with storage, not polluting gas.  Gas is not a transition fuel, it’s a one way street to more greenhouse emissions.

Your donation helps local communities under threat to choose renewables not gas:

    -$50 will let farmers and communities speak out in the media and get the facts to voters;

    -$75 will go towards supporting renewable energy projects in affected regions that have community support;

-$100 will contribute to scientific & economic reports for media and submissions.

Can you chip in to hold the frackers at bay?

    $31,570.00 raised
    GOAL: $35,000.00

In the Territory, the exploration fracking rigs are ready to roll within the next few weeks.

Communities across the Northern Territory are staunchly opposed to fracking.

Will you stand with them to defend our water- including the recharge zones of the magnificent Mataranka Hot Springs?

If you give $50 or more, your gift will be matched by one of our supporters!

    Stop Origin Fracking the NT

Origin Energy are lining up to frack the Northern Territory this year, and in the firing line are some magical places, including recharge zones of Mataranka Hot Springs.

Traditional Owners have told us that Origin Energy has ignored their concerns about fracking and not properly laid out the risks involved.

Fracking the NT would be a disaster for the landscape, communities and waterways. Plus it would unleash massive emissions of methane, a greenhouse gas, and fuel global warming.

We need to build a powerful movement of people willing to spread the word and take on Origin at every level, from their head offices to their board rooms.

    Protect Our Food and Water

Many regions of the country are now facing one of the worst droughts on record.

Due to climate change we face more variable rainfall and more frequent, severe fires. Our agricultural productivity is under increasing pressure.

But coal and gas mines are still targeting many of our best food growing areas and precious water supplies.

Call on our state and federal politicians to protect our vital food growing land and water supplies.

    Railroaded

Carving up food lands for coal transport in Central Queensland.

In March 2014, Lock the Gate Alliance released a new report that reveals a Queensland Government proposal to declare a State Development Area (GBSDA) across 2 million hectares in Central Queensland, to facilitate coal rail developments, would lead to major flooding and significant loss of food-producing land.

The declaration of a State Development area will mean that the Queensland Coordinator General can compulsorily acquire any farmers land, against their wishes, across 2 million hectares of land.

Help stop coal mining under Sydney's drinking water catchments!

    Protect Sydney's Drinking Water Catchment

Our drinking water, our rivers and even our World Heritage areas are threatened by longwall coal mining in the greater Sydney region.

Right now, South32, Wollongong Coal and Hume Coal are all pushing ahead with proposals for new coal mining inside Greater Sydney’s water catchment.

On top of that, Peabody Coal have applied to explore for more coal near Woronora Reservoir.

It’s time that Premier Berejiklian declared Sydney's drinking water catchment a no-go zone for coal mining.
