Coal mine methane is a fast-acting and potent greenhouse gas, and NSW’s gassy coal mines are among the largest industrial sources of methane pollution in Australia. Despite this, emissions are likely being significantly underreported - posing a serious risk to the state’s climate targets.
This NSW Methane Forum will bring together leading experts, policymakers, and advocates for a timely discussion on coal mine methane emissions in NSW. There is a limited number of seats available so RSVP now to secure yours.
It’s an opportunity to hear evidence-based insights on the climate impact of methane, the economic and environmental consequences of inaction, and how we can advocate for real change.
Speakers include:
- Rebecca Burdon, CEO of Climate Resource, with over 20 years of experience in climate policy and regulation.
- Greg Bourne, Climate Councillor and former oil and gas executive.
- Henry Adams, nationally recognised expert on carbon market design and operation at Common Capital.
- Rachael Chick, Senior Solicitor at Environmental Defenders Office.
This event will be hosted by The Hon. Jeremy Buckingham, MLC, Chair of the Joint Standing Committee on Net Zero Future and co-hosted by committee member Michael Regan MP and organised by Lock the Gate Alliance.
Morning tea will be provided. Flat access is available to the Jubilee Room, which is also fitted with induction loops.
