RSVP to join us on our mission to get 5000 submissions to the Queensland Government before the 25th of August to protect the rivers and floodplains of the Lake Eyre Basin.
WHERE: Zoom (link provided when you RSVP)
WHEN: Thursday 17th August, 5.30pm
WHAT: Online Calling party!
Lake Eyre Basin contains some of the last free-flowing desert rivers on earth. The Cooper Creek in particular forms extensive braided channels, known as the Channel Country, and flows into Kati Thanda/Lake Eyre in major flood events. The rivers and floodplains have extraordinary cultural significance for First Nations peoples who have cared for these landscapes for thousands and thousands of years.
The Queensland Government is currently asking for community views on whether to protect these precious rivers and floodplains in South West Queensland from new gas developments.
So, we need your help to get as many people as we can to put in submissions during this consultation period!
You’ll be calling Lock the Gate supporters who haven’t made a submission yet. They should be friendly and easy calls. So, come along to our online event where we will provide all the training you need, and let’s get calling!
