A weekend in the Southern Highlands: 20-21 October

Join Lock the Gate and Battle for Berrima for a great weekend of cycling, scenery and action to save our drinking water catchment - and one of our most unique animals, the Platypus - from coal mining on 20/21 October, 2018.

The 'Pedal for the Platypus' weekend features:

      • Option A: Battle for Berrima’s Fundraising dinner and Art Auction. Email ‘Fundraiser’ to [email protected] if you’re interested. Tickets are $150 per person.

      • Option B: #Time2Choose campaign dinner in a shed on a paddock in Sutton Forest (due to limited cooking facilities at the campsite, this option is only available to campers).
    • This is a commercial bike ride with courses available from 35kms all the way up to 175kms.
    • Our #Time2Choose cycling team is entering the 35km Social Ride
    • A special discount of 20% off is available for the extra-fun 35km Social Ride on Sunday morning. Thanks Bowral Classic!!!!! Just enter the promotional code B4B when you register for the ride on Bowral Classic’s website here.

    • Support Battle for Berrima by buying a ticket to their Saturday night dinner (see details above)

Camping Camp for up to 2 nights (Friday 19 and/or Saturday 20 October) in a paddock owned by Hume Coal affected landowners and members of Coal Free Southern Highlands. The campsite features toilets, a farm shed kitchen with refrigeration and limited bore water. BYO drinking water and note no showers available on site. $10 per person or $25 per family
Pedal for the Platypus

‘Pedal for the Platypus’ bike ride from historic Berrima to the Hume Coal Mine site, Medway Colliery, Wingecarribee River and back. You’ll need to BYO a bicycle for this community ride. Participation by donation of $5 per person  or $20 per family. RSVP at [email protected]

Lunch - Saturday After our Pedal for the Platypus community bike ride, Battle for Berrima (B4B) invite you to enjoy a BBQ lunch in Berrima. B4B suggest a donation of $5-$10 per person $5-$10 per person
Dinner - Battle for Berrima major fundraiser

Support Battle for Berrima's major fundraiser for 2018 starting at 6.30pm on Saturday 20 October in Berrima.

Tickets are $150 pp and are available by emailing ‘Fundraiser’ to [email protected] or booking via Battle for Berrima’s events web page.

Keynote speaker for the night is Dr Ian Wright - one of Australia's leading water scientists, who has been studying water pollution associated with coal mines for nearly 20 years in the Sydney basin.

Enjoy great food and wine at this ‘Save the Platypus’-themed event. All funds raised go towards the community campaign to protect the Southern Highlands and our drinking water catchment from Hume Coal's proposed mine

Dinner - Sutton Forest farm shed

For those camping, join Lock the Gate for a #Time2Choose dinner at our campsite in a Sutton Forest farm shed on Saturday night for $15 per person or $35 per family (BYO wine and/or beer).

Sunday family bike ride, Bowral Classic

Join Lock the Gate and Battle for Berrima's #Time2Choose team for the Bowral Classic.

Enter now for your choice of everything from a 35km social ride which explores the Southern Highlands, right up to the 175km Maxi.

The Bowral Classic social ride costs $64 per adult and $32 per child with your 20% B4B discount. It includes coffee and a cake at a Berrima cafe of your choice. Please note that if you are not a member of an organisation which provides cycling insurance, you also need to pay the Bowral Classic $10 extra per rider to cover accident insurance.

$64/$32 + $10 pp in insurance if you are not already covered.
