Open cut mining at this location would greatly diminish or destroy what should otherwise become a place of truth-telling and reconciliation.
The Heritage Council of NSW has “emphasised the exceptional importance of the site, its shared history and the intrinsic connection” between massacre sites, Aboriginal cultural heritage, and the colonial homestead.
