Join the protest of Jemena's plan for a fracking pipeline for the NT
Join a peaceful community demonstration at Jemena's North Sydney office, calling on the company to abandon their push for a pipeline to open up fracking gasfields across the Northern Territory.
Community members are acting to support the vast majority of pastoralists and Traditional Owners across the NT do not want their lands and waterways transformed into industrial fracking gasfields.
Jemena is licking their lips at the prospect of their pipeline assisting gas fracking companies to vacuum more Australian gas offshore.
Territory residents are participating in the NT Fracking Inquiry in good faith while the Federal Government, the NT Government along with Jemena is jumping the gun and approving major new gas infrastructure.
Jemena’s desperate plea to allow fracking across the Northern Territory for their white elephant pipeline is a slap in the face to NT tourism operators, pastoralists and Traditional Owners.
Territorians will not stand for groundwater being put at risk because Jemena made a poor business decision.
Australian communities have nothing to gain by bending to Jemena’s push for risky fracking gasfields across the Territory.
According to the project EIS, Jemena will charge the most expensive per kilometre tariff to transport gas in all of Australia, at 0.23 cents per kilometre. This is 91% more than the average tariff/km charged in Australia. This pipeline will only lead to higher prices yet again for Australian gas users.
Territorians voted for a fracking moratorium and many are clamouring for an outright ban. Jemena and big business needs to step back and respect democratic processes.
