Thanks for saving Bylong!

Please write a very short message, in your own words, to the Independent Planning Commission and the NSW Government for rejecting the risky Bylong coal mine.  Congratulate them for listening to the experts and protecting this incredible area for its rich soils, precious groundwater and unique heritage values. This means the historic Tarwyn Park property, the home of Natural Sequence Farming, will not be mined.

    Well done!

Spread the word around Australia AND the globe. There are alternatives that can minimise destruction of the ecosystems and reduce climate change.

That’s a very forward thinking decision. One that our future generations will thsnk you for. I think you could use the same reasoning to reject the Wallarah 2 longwall mine in the Yarramalong Valley.

I would like to thank you for making a truely great decision for the future of Australians and our planet. I wish our Liberal Government would act with such conscience.

To the IPC. Congratulations on your decision on Kepco’s Bylong coal mine proposal. This is one of many decisions and acts that have been and will be made that will contribute to turning the climate-change ship around and its importance cannot be underestimated. People of Australia, the world, their children and generations to come depend on more and more enlightened and principled decisions like this. Once more, congratulations and thank you.

I am pleased to see the Commission has taken a long term view on the negative effects of a coal mine on our environment rather than being swayed by short term financial gain.

At a time when I despair for the future of my grandchildren your decision to reject the Bylong coal mine provides hope that the environment is considered by some decision makers to be in our sacred trust and we all have an obligation to look after it for future generations of people, fauna and flora. Thankyou.

Bylong belongs to the people. Thank you for sparing this singularly beautiful valley from the ravages of coal mining which fuels global warming and mass extinction. With more decisions like this we may even stand a chance of survival.

It’s a wonderful thing that some official bodies are seeing sense. Our world is in serious trouble because of greed and it warms my heart to see such a positive decision for our environment.

Good decision. The long-term impacts of mining coal in this district – or anywhere – , have been given their proper weighting against any short-term financial gain for the mining company.

A big THANK YOU to the Independent Planning Commission and the NSW Government for rejecting the proposed Bylong coal mine! These days one assumes that big projects like this, backed by millions of dollars, will automatically be approved (after some pretence that the community is being listened to), so it’s a great relief to read that common sense has, in this case, prevailed. Congratulations to all those who fought long and hard for this result.

Thank you so much for protecting the water table in Bylong. Water security and thus food security for NSW and indeed Australia is of utmost importance considering our country is in the grip of severe drought. One thing is certain, even if the current drought breaks there will be more droughts in the future. Thank you, thank you!

we are very grateful that you have reached this decision about the Bylong Valley. It is a delightful area full of so much significance.

May there be many more decisions that favour the keeping of the present landscape despit what may lie under it.
