Thanks for saving Bylong!

Please write a very short message, in your own words, to the Independent Planning Commission and the NSW Government for rejecting the risky Bylong coal mine.Β  Congratulate them for listening to the experts and protecting this incredible area for its rich soils, precious groundwater and unique heritage values. This means the historic Tarwyn Park property, the home of Natural Sequence Farming, will not be mined.

Go you good thing. You stood truly by the land, water, air, environment, wildlife and the people. All backed up by reputable scientific reports. The truth above those with vested interests.

I wish to express my gratitude to the IPC and the NSW government for the rejection of the Bylong Valley mine proposal.

this is a far-sighted, responsible decision.

Though I live in Queensland now, I grew up in NSW and treasure its wild and scenic areas. I travel several times per year, en route to relatives, through the sandstone walls and hills of the upper Bylong. I always love it, and for it to be degraded or damaged in any way would be a tragedy.

Thank you so much for not approving the Bylong coal mine, this beautiful area will now be protected for generations to come and it won’t make climate change worse.

You talked to the people that it affected the most on the land & finally listened well done, because no farmers no food for the people

I believe this was a bad decision, environmental conditions could have let the mine produce coal and the royalties from the coal, could be used by the government, to improve the state. How much employment is lost, from this stupid decision.

Your decision has given me hope that my children have a chance at a decent planet. Your decision is highly commendable and sets an example for other entities that hold similar power. Thank you again. All the way from Amman, Jordan.

Thank you for protecting the Bylong Valley from coal mining. The health risks of these mines to neighbours and beyond are only just becoming understood. The land here is so beautiful. Thank you again.

Thank you for using such common sense. May there be much more of it used to stop other ridiculous coal mines

Such a great decision, thank you to the Independent Planning Commission and the NSW Government for listening to reason and rejecting the risky Bylong coal mine, I now hope that the Queensland Government will have the same amount of courage and foresight to put a stop to Adani.

Dear Commissioners – I’ve waited for many years for our planning system to recognise the importance of intergenerational equity. The concept should form the basis of all decision making. Thank you for making a stand and setting a precedent for transparent decision making – one that isn’t always about today’s profit fix and works towards a sustainable future that all can benefit from.

Thank you for NOT allowing the Bylong coal mine approval. It is to your credit that you have READ the submissions and acted on them well done. Pity you did not do the other coal mines of Wollar were ground water is effect now and two mines sit next to National Parks on both sides which was approved much to the discussed of locals.

Finally some good environmental news, even if it’s a decision not to do something damaging rather than to take action against climate change. As a senior Australian, I’m very thankful for this small mercy on behalf of future generations and the fauna and flora of NSW.

Thank you for protecting the Bylong Valley and putting water before coal. A decision for all of NSW not just a mining company. The farmers of the valley can continue to do what they do so well.

What encouraging and delightful news. In times when serious action on climate seems to be glaringly missing from our decision-makers, this is a landmark and excellent stand for our future essential resources – water and food!

I congratulate the IPC on their refusal to this mine, based on good science and good sense. We are in the grip of serious climate change and reducing emissions and protecting our water is paramount to preserving some kind of future for our children. Thanks again.
