Thanks for saving Bylong!

Please write a very short message, in your own words, to the Independent Planning Commission and the NSW Government for rejecting the risky Bylong coal mine.  Congratulate them for listening to the experts and protecting this incredible area for its rich soils, precious groundwater and unique heritage values. This means the historic Tarwyn Park property, the home of Natural Sequence Farming, will not be mined.

Thank you IPC for a considered thoughtful decision, for the people of NSW and beyond. Your judgement recognises the arguments in favour of the mine, but also that this development would create irreversible damage, to local water and soils, and to the global climate. This decision is on the right side of history.

To the men and women of the Independent Planning Commission,

No doubt your decision was made impartially and based on a range of factors broader than those closer to many of our hearts, but THANKYOU for your decision to deny this mine.

Our country is in the grip of climate events unprecedented in our time and like they say ‘you can’t eat or drink Coal or Gas’.

Thank you on behalf of all of us and our children’s children.

Your decision may not have been easy with all the pressures you are under, but it is heartwarming to know that politicians CAN make the right decisions. Thank you.

    Hi there,

I am a solar energy researcher and father of a wonderful 7 year old daughter. I understand the unprecedented existential threat of climate change and that the world needs the most rapid and effective action possible to move away from mining and burning of fossil fuels and to zero carbon living.

With your decision you are giving my daughter a chance of inheriting a planet that may be saved from catastrophic runaway climate change.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

    Good decision and much appreciated.

Needs to be backed up by changing the whole way we overpopulate and consume evermore stuff.

Great to see government acknowledging reality and taking steps to look after the environment rather than wealth for those who have more than enough. Credit to those involved.

I want to express my gratitude and relief in hearing the news of this outcome. I am familiar with this beautiful area and this gives us hope and inspiration of what is possible for other areas under threat.
