Thanks for saving Bylong!

Please write a very short message, in your own words, to the Independent Planning Commission and the NSW Government for rejecting the risky Bylong coal mine.  Congratulate them for listening to the experts and protecting this incredible area for its rich soils, precious groundwater and unique heritage values. This means the historic Tarwyn Park property, the home of Natural Sequence Farming, will not be mined.

Thank you so much for recognising the value of the area which would have been at risk had the Bylong coal mine proceeded. Your decision reflects community and experts’ concerns about stewardship of our land and water, which sadly are mostly ignored by decision makers.

Thank you so very much for rejecting the mine. This beautiful valley and it’s surrounds will remain the way it is with the precious groundwater and beautiful rich soils not being destroyed. Some common sense has prevailed! Just fantastic news!!

Thank you so much for making the right decision in stopping the Bylong Mine. I see the devastation that the mines are creating every time I drive on the Golden Highway – it is so sad,

Thank you IPC and NSW Government for not allowing the opening of a new coal mine in the beautiful productive Bylong valley. I am particularly impressed that intergenerational equity was one basis for the decision.

I would like to thank you for listening to the experts and the community to protect this precious area! It is great to feel some optimism for the future as a result of the decision that you have made. Our land and water are too valuable to squander for a short term gain! We must protect our country, indeed our planet, for future generations.

Dear Members of the Independent Planning Commission,

While expectation of gratitude from the community would not have played any part in your deliberations as to the merits of the Bylong coal mine, thank you for accepting the advice of the environmental and heritage experts and rejecting the application for a coalmine on land that included the Tarwin Park property and the Bylong Valley.

This is fantastic news. Please talk about the many alternatives such as solar thermal, hydrogen etc. because those businesses who would have started mining should invest in the future.

Thank you! In crazy times it is refreshing to see common sense prevailing. We have seen other states push on with projects totally rejected by experts employed to establish viability and environmental impacts & wasting hundreds of millions in the process and needlessly displacing people off good farming land whose families worked that land for generations. Congratulations on a job well done. Can we have you assess some proposed projects in other states too?
