Thanks for saving Bylong!

Please write a very short message, in your own words, to the Independent Planning Commission and the NSW Government for rejecting the risky Bylong coal mine.ย  Congratulate them for listening to the experts and protecting this incredible area for its rich soils, precious groundwater and unique heritage values. This means the historic Tarwyn Park property, the home of Natural Sequence Farming, will not be mined.

Thank you for adding the principle of intergenerational equity and climate change to the values you recognised of groundwater, heritage and the best agricultural soils. You have given us in Queensland hope and encouragement to keep fighting for what is right.

I worked with the leading representatives of energy companies in the 1980s and 1990s, upon the ExxonMobil and Shell bulletins. I cannot believe that such serious matters have been ignored for so long. It is decisions like yours that will do what needs and can be done. Of course the huge expansion of Hunter Valley open cut simply fouls the region.

Brilliant news that Bylong will be naturally maintained for generations to come and great news for our fragile environment.

This news made me weep with joy! Finally politicians are listening to their people. The tide turns and sense prevails. To have sacrificed this magnificent area would have been a disaster of monumental proportions. Well done all!

Dear members of the IPC – thank you for rejecting the Bylong valley coal mine. It is heartening that sometimes the majority opinion of informed citizens can be heard and considered alongside international money men. You have helped restore faith in society.

I’m an expatriate Aussie currently living in the U.S. but have watched in horror over the years as irreplaceable beauty and habitat have been ploughed under in reckless slavery to the almighty dollar in Australia as in other countries. Thank you so much for having the clarity of vision to see what would have been lost, and the courage and determination to save it.
