Please write a very short message, in your own words, to the Independent Planning Commission and the NSW Government for rejecting the risky Bylong coal mine. Congratulate them for listening to the experts and protecting this incredible area for its rich soils, precious groundwater and unique heritage values. This means the historic Tarwyn Park property, the home of Natural Sequence Farming, will not be mined.
Thanks for saving Bylong!

Sharyn Munro commented 2019-09-18 16:20:26 +1000What a wise and thoroughly well-considered and consulted result! I thank you for this almost unhoped-for decision to let the Bylong Valley live on. And as a grandmother, I thank you for giving me hope in sanity coming to our approvals process, so that in future there may be more balance… and less global warming.

Annabelle Clucas commented 2019-09-18 16:19:58 +1000Thank you so much for valuing the heritage, groundwater and natural beauty of Bylong Valley above a coal mine! This is an enormous win for future generations of Australians! (You can’t also have a word to the Qld Government regarding the Adani mine, can you?)

Kerry Picard-Arnott commented 2019-09-18 16:18:35 +1000What an awesome, and sensible decision to have been made. What a beautiful part of Australia. Thank God for wisdom in some quarters of Government, and congrats to the Independent Planning Commission for maintaining their integrity and rejecting the Bylong coal mine! And well done to the people who have stood against corporate greed and vandalism, presenting the views of the people, in such a capable manner. Farms – like Tarwyn Park, which is unique, and progressive in its processes – are needed, for other farming organisations to follow their lead into the future.
One can now only hope someone with half a brain, makes a similar decision to save the iconic, world heritage rated Great Australian Bight, from the destruction planned by Big Oil, who want to drill and frack into the ocean along our pristine southern coastline-the Bonney upwelling from the Antarctica brings fresh water and fresh food, which draws ocean life from tiny crustaceans, to Southern Right Whales and huge Blue Whales, and amazing birdlife, in fact life and nature in all its beauty. Anyone who has an eye for saving this coastline now needs to focus their attention there, before it ends up looking like the beaches around the gulf of Mexico, littered with toxic oil and dead creatures, after the Deepwater Horizon spill – 9 years later, crabs are still covered in parasites, shells going black, and mutations such as missing limbs are common; save the Great Aust Bight before the loss of income occurs, for all the industries which make a living from tourism and fishing and other activities along southern coasts. Australians in small towns and big cities do have the power to vote, and should be using it to vote and lobby against such a loss of our children’s future opportunities. -
clelia Koch commented 2019-09-18 16:18:07 +1000THERE IS NOTHING MORE IMPORTANT THAN PRESERVING PRECIOUS GROUND WATER APART FROM CLEAN FRESH AIR TO BREATHE. PROTECTING OUR FEW GOOD FARMING ARABLE SOIL AREAS LIKE THE BYLONG FROM OPEN CUT MINING WAS LONG OVERDUE. CONGRATULATIONS. CLELIA

THIS IS A REALLY WISE DECISION — I HAD BEGUN TO THINK THAT THE DECKS WERE STACKED AGAINST PROTECTION OF THE ENVIRONMENT. I HOPE I HAVE ANOTHER CHANCE TO THINK AGAIN SOON! -
Tim Maguire commented 2019-09-18 16:16:36 +1000Dear Independent Planning Commission, It is a great relief to see that the Bylong Valley has been saved from being an unliveable hell, spared from unacceptable health and environmental impacts. We have a limited carbon budget and leaving the coal in the ground in the Bylong Valley is a great outcome for those of us who worry about the impacts of climate change on the future earth and its inhabitants – human and otherwise.
Thank you, -

John Frois commented 2019-09-18 16:15:44 +1000thanks for t he good news. It is quite a change from so many of bad government decisions. Governments ought to know what’s best for the country’s future. Good people on the ground should not have to constantly spend their energy and money to teach governments right from wrong…

James Scanlon commented 2019-09-18 16:15:10 +1000Great news about Bylong! Good on Lock the Gate, all residents and other campaigners and the IPC. No thanks to the NSW Govt. Now get the feral horses out of the Snowy, and rein in John Barilaro with his nonsensical campaign for more dams (having a dam in place does not cause rain to fall upstream). And drop the ‘raise Warragamba’ proposal, which will destroy natural and human heritage items.
