Great news that a coal mine at Bylong has been rejected

What a wonderful outcome for the communities in Bylong Valley!

Well done planning commission , it’s wonderful to see there are at last elements in the various governments that are not scientifically illeterate and can plan intelligently and purposefully for the future, especially in areas with significant policy complexity.

The less coal mines the better

Congratulations to all who acted to reject the Bylong coal mine. Our country has unique flora and fauna which is becoming endangered and damaged so a huge thank you for protecting this land from mining.

Brilliant news! A ray of hope that sense is prevailing regarding protection of our environment and our economy.

Thank you for saving the Bylong Valley from having a huge coal mine in their community. Congratulations!!!

Could we please also save the Liverpool Plains – our food bowl, from having a huge coal mine, the Shenhua Watermark Project, right in the middle of some of the most productive farming soils in Australia. This proposed coal mine will damage the precious water aquifers, destroy significant Aboriginal Heritage and sacred sites, destroy highly important Koala habitat and migration pathways and leak salinity onto the fertile black soil plains for the next 500 years.

Please call for this mine to be halted before it is too late and irreparable damage occurs.

I want to commend the Commission for its decision, as well as the integrity of the process that led up to it.

I believe future generations of Australians, as well as all of us that care about maintaining our precious natural resources for future agricultural and tourism benefits, will greet and look back on this as a landmark decision in accounting for our long-term interests.
