Come along on Saturday, and assist in designing a Mining Free community campaign for SEQ. Hear about the success stories of the Northern Rivers CSG Free Communities campaign and be part of designing something as effective for SEQ.
This will be an interactive day that will be motivating and an opportunity for everyone to explore ways to be dynamic and powerful.
The day will entail:
- bus tour of Rosewood region (9:30am - 12noon) pickup from Brisbane at 8am
- Community BBQ Lunch (12noon - 1pm)
- Community Engagement Workshop (1pm - 5pm)
- Bus shall return to Brisbane by 6:30pm
Before this workshop there will be a bus tour of the region. 8am departure from Brisbane and 9:30am departure from Johnston Park, cnr Walloon Rd and John Street, Rosewood. Your tour guides will be locals from the region and they will show you the following
- New Hope Coal New Oakleigh coal Mine
- New Hope Coal Jeebropilly coal Mine
- New Hope Coal Coal to Liquid Plant
- Ebenezer ML4172 that OGL plan to re open
- Bremer Views MDL172 that OGL plan to resume 300 residents properties and agricultural land.
A community BBQ lunch will be held at Johnston Park, John Street Rosewood courtesy of Rosewood Uniting Church parish and Rosewood District Protection Organisation.
In the afternoon we will obtain an overview of coal and gas related developments throughout SEQ and learn more about the Northern Rivers CSG Free Communities campaign and develop a strategy of how this could be adapted for SEQ.
Costs: we shall ask for a donation of $20 for the bus tour and a donation for the community lunch and the community engagement workshop.
