Mining giant BHP is pushing through plans to build some of the biggest coal mine expansions in the world, right here in Queensland. BHP’s coal expansion proposals would destroy central Qld creeks and bushland, drain at least 900 billion litres of water, clear greater glider and koala habitat and add over 4 billion tonnes of pollution into the atmosphere.
Lock the Gate recently uncovered that BHP was knowingly polluting creeks downstream of its Blackwater coal mine for over 15 years, causing bushland to die off. BHP can’t be trusted and should not be allowed to build huge new coal mine expansions in Queensland.
BHP needs to hear from Queenslanders that we don’t want their dirty coal expansions trashing our waterways. Take action now by complaining to BHP.
