This project will deepen the existing pits at Idemistu’s Boggabri coal mine, worsening its impact on water resources in the Namoi Valley.
It will use 600 megalitres of water a year and the NSW water agency has warned that the mine will struggle to obtain lawful allocations of water to cover its demand in dry times.
