Carmichael Mine Approval - Shame Queensland Shame

Published: May 08, 2014

The Lock the Gate’s national president, Drew Hutton has slammed the Queensland State Government’s approval of the Carmichael mine.

“Jeff Seeney’s claim that the government had set ‘stringent conditions’ to protect landholders, water and the environment are just a joke,” Mr Hutton said.

“As Campbell Newman said ‘we’re in the coal business’and the LNP won’t let anything stand in the way of making money.”

He said the mine would have “devastating impacts” on water resources and local landholders would forever be paying the price.
