Where would you rather see our taxpayer money invested?

The Government wants to frack, but what does Australia want?

We’ve put together a letter you can sign below and add your ideas for the Federal Government on what they could do with our hard-earned tax dollars.

Please add your name and give us your ideas for where you’d rather see your tax dollars spent.

To Federal Parliamentarians, Ministers, Departments,

We are alarmed and disappointed to see the Federal Government now rolling out a suite of actions to prop up expensive and dangerous gas fracking across Australia without any proper public accountability.

As voters and concerned Australians, we ask that you hear our message - do not spend our money on gas fracking projects and big new gas pipelines.

Farmlands, water resources and the climate can’t afford to keep propping up polluting gas.

It’s time for Australia to grow stronger and tool up to embrace cleaner energy and storage.

There are a multitude of ways the Government could take a smarter approach to the Covid recovery. The Australian community has many ideas on how we can boost agriculture, tourism, First Nations opportunities, community health and disaster relief.

We know we can create jobs by genuinely supporting diverse Australian businesses, not throwing our money at the gas fracking industry.

We see huge opportunities to help Australia to get off polluting and expensive gas into the future, to modernise our power and heating and to save on gas and energy bills.

I ask that you oppose the measures being rolled out to fast-track gas fracking, including the ill-considered and secretive National Gas Infrastructure Plan, and take on board our ideas for how the money could be better spent.

Yours sincerely,

Please add some comments.

What would you rather see money spent on?

Here are some ideas:

Helping Australian businesses get off gas
Funding community projects in your neighbourhood
Land stewardship programs
Supporting First Nations organisations and businesses working on country
Renewable energy projects and battery storage
Disaster relief

Spending money on getting global warming projects going does not make sense. The more frequent sever weather events is already costing the economy dearly and will only get worse. The more we spend on renewable energy the less we will end up spending on disaster relief.

Please read the following report regarding the reality of long term employment generated by gas fracking development.

https://www.desmogblog.com/2021/02/11/appalachian-fracking-boom-was-jobs-bust-finds-new-report?fbclid=IwAR1Nw0QSlWTnzcyYu-vYD1eRFqgHl0kvcmkk8hKqHje1zgb6vQKSczxSyBo. It is time our “leaders” actually took a look at information coming back from countries who have been fracking for decades. Stop ignoring the science with your eyes only fixed on short term profits for the few.

Fracking kills a multi- billion dollar fresh water industry ie poisons our artisan basins

The world is heading toward desertification and fresh water shortage!

Wish you people listened to people rather than the lobbyist who only server their own pockets.

You should be spending money on

    - Land stewardship programs

    - Renewable energy

    - anyone for “Disaster relief” strategies.. We are having larger fires and floods. how do we deal with this now?

I can only hope that a conservative government will take a conservative approach to the future of all current and future Australians, by mitigating the risk of climate change, not increasing the risk. We stand on the shoulders of all current and previous Australians who have made sacrifices. Let’s not squander their sacrifice and shrug our own responsibilities by kicking the can down the road for future generations who will lament our opportunity to act, when they have none and are faced with the environmental, food and water security, mass migration, and geopolitical threats that would be thrust upon them. The gas industry is already subsidised using significant amounts of our tax dollars. Let’s not throw good money after bad. Seriously, have you ever met someone that works in the gas industry that is financially doing it hard? I have relatives that have and do work in this industry, they have and continue to enjoy a standard of living way beyond the average Australian, regardless of whether they work at the top or bottom of the industry. Please invest in renewable energy projects. Give businesses the confidence they need to make long term planning and infrastructure investments. Invest in our universities and CSIRO research and development capabilities. Invest in TAFE so we have the skilled workforce to install and maintain renewable energy facilities. Invest in our ability to export clean energy to the world. Invest in the future for all Australians. Please be on the right side of history.

I don’t like to see investment in old, soon to be outdated technology, whilst also adversely affecting the environment.
