A tour to see firsthand the devastating impact of coal mining in the NSW Hunter Valley as it faces proposed expansions of several monster mines.
Our trip on Friday 21 June by 24-seater mini-bus includes meeting with local farmers and campaigners, and hearing about opportunities to renew the region post-coal, as well as a beautiful lunch at a local winery.
We start with a Thursday night stay in a country pub, followed by a day’s bus ride allowing us to see:
- monster mines like Mt Pleasant (near Muswellbrook) and HVO (near Singleton)
- Liddell Power Station, in transition to a renewable hub
- the other Hunter – vineyards and horse country.
Subsidised cost: $120 per person, includes:
- twin share accommodation in a country pub with shared bathroom
- travel by mini-bus from Maitland hotel
- lunch
- breakfast and morning and afternoon refreshments.
not included:
- travel by train (details available) or own car to and from Maitland
- dinner in pub bistro on Thursday evening
- drinks.
