Lock the Gate National Week of Action

Published: October 12, 2012

Following the success of its National Day of Action in 2011, the Lock the Gate Alliance will hold its National Week of Action beginning this Saturday.

Member groups of the Alliance have organised many different sorts of events, including picnics, massive human signs, rallies and direct action.

Lock the Gate Alliance president, Drew Hutton, said he expected the 30 or so events would see the involvement of even more anti-coal and coal seam gas activists than last year.

“We estimated about 10,000 people participated in last year’s day of action and, given our first event will be the Rock the Gate concert at Murwillumbah, we are confident we will exceed this number,” Mr Hutton said.

The National Week of Action will finish on Sunday, 21 October.
