There has been a major gas blowout at Arrow Energy's Daandine field 25 kilometres west of Dalby, The incident occurred yesterday at about 9 a.m. but was not reported to the landowner until 2 p.m.
The gas and water spewed 100 metres into the air and is currently at 40 metres.
This is the fourth time such an incident has happened on Tom O'Connor's property and he is reportedly very angry.
The drillers apparently did not seal the well that goes directly into the Walloon Coal Measures and the top blew. It is likely the company will not be able to stop it.
Lock the Gate Alliance president Drew Hutton said this incident was much like the Gulf Oil problem in engineering terms and demonstrated the dangers that come with living in a gas field.
"This is the fourth such incident on this poor man's property and is just one of many incidents that have occurred in the immediate area," Mr Hutton said.
"Over the last 18 months we have seen pipeline blow-outs, gas migrations and well blow-outs in the Daandine-Wilkie Creek area.
"How much longer do we have to put landowners' and workers' lives at risk in an unsafe industry?"
Mr Hutton questioned whether or not the problem could be fixed any time soon.
"They cannot put a metal top on the well for fear of a spark so it will be interesting to see how soon this can be brought under control.
"Maybe this time DERM can find it in their hearts to breach the company."
