NAB will soon finalise its oil and gas lending policy. If we want to stop the Narrabri gasfield, we’ve got to cut the funding pipeline and NAB’s policy will be crucial to that.

According to Market Forces, NAB’s recent gas lending is wildly at odds with its public support for the Paris Climate Agreement, which leading scientists say “requires a rapid phase-out of existing fossil fuel infrastructure, leaving no room for expansion of the gas industry”.

What should we say to them?

• A big part of their consideration will be climate change: tell them about your concern about climate change and that new gas projects like Narrabri will worsen the impacts Australians are already suffering. 
• Tell them why you oppose the Narrabri gas project specifically, because of the risk it poses to regional water resources, Gomeroi cultural heritage and the unique biodiversity of the Pilliga forest. 
• Tell them that you expect Aussie banks to put their customers’ money into clean energy projects not harmful gasfields that jeopardise our future.
