Stingray Sisters documentary series brings to life the human side of Arnhem Land’s fight for country
Stingray Sisters is a three part documentary series that tells the heartwarming, inspirational story of the beautiful and magnetic Eather sisters, Noni, Alice and Grace. Their humour and shared family madness brings joy while their struggle to protect and preserve their precious home and culture draws tears. This series leaves a huge imprint on the heart.
The current Adam Giles government has further opened the Territory to unconventional forms of mining. 85% of the Northern Territory is under application or approved for oil and gas exploration. These projects threaten the landscape, the way of life, and the very survival of Indigenous communities throughout the region.
“We are caretakers,” says Alice. “I can’t imagine having oil rigs out there, roads coming in and out.
That’s what I don’t want. That’s what mob here don’t want”.
With the Northern Territory election around the corner in late August, there has never been a more important moment to share the Stingray Sisters’ story.
