Thanks for saving Bylong!

Please write a very short message, in your own words, to the Independent Planning Commission and the NSW Government for rejecting the risky Bylong coal mine.  Congratulate them for listening to the experts and protecting this incredible area for its rich soils, precious groundwater and unique heritage values. This means the historic Tarwyn Park property, the home of Natural Sequence Farming, will not be mined.

A very big thank you to the Independent Planning Commission and the NSW Government for rejecting the risky Bylong coal mine. I have lived in Kandos within a collective community of very concientious local residents who have strongly opposed the Bylong coal mine. I want to thank you for saving the future of the land, its growth and for the coming generations of peoples who will benefit enormously from a forward thinking, wise and ecologically sound decision to save a natural farming food belt in the mid western region of New South Wales.

I would like to express my thanks to the NSW Government and the Independent Planning Commission on the decision to protect Bylong valley and consequently from the effects that coal from the mine would have contributed to climate change as wel as damage to the environment in the area.

Well done on seeing the light

    Water is life

    Nothing can survive without it

Mining needs to take a back seat in times of drought🙏👍

Thank you to the Independent Planning Commission and the NSW Government, for protecting one of the most exploited and undervalued resources in Australia.

Now it’s time to pay the planet back! You’ll find us with the Global Climate Strike @UTS.

I am so happy that Bylong Valley will be preserved for future generations. Sequestering carbon instead of contributing to climate disaster.

To those that evaluated this mine thank you for making this very difficult decision. Seeing properties destroyed for the sake of coal and in such times of water pressure in regional areas is very distressing. Especially when promises of jobs is so prevalent, when the realities and the destruction is much worse. This decision will provide solace to those that would have had to live near the mine, as miraculously those that are so keen to want them never seem to be the ones that then offer to buy the properties that are next to the site and want to live and look at the gaping holes left in the ground. Your decision is appreciated land is much more precious than massive holes left in the ground. Seeing a solar and wind farm would be a much better sight than the one being offered by a corporation in another country.

Thank you for recognising the principle of intergenerational equity in your decision to reject the Bylong coal mine – and to recognise that prime agricultural land and their associated communities in Australia needs to be preserved. This supports a precedent and hopefully will influence decisions into the future

A very wise decision, we can’t eat or drink coal and with climate change coming down on us we will need all the arable land and underground water we have.

Thank you for recognising the risk that Bylong coal mine posed to the local communities, agriculture in the area, the wider environment and to Climate Change! I applaud your decision to Reject the mining application and see no reason why any further mining expansions should be allowed.
