The worst case scenario modelling for this short extension of Glencore’s underground Ulan mine indicate it might draw over 10,000 megalitres of groundwater from the surrounding environment in the headwaters of the Goulburn River.
This would reduce crucial baseflow to the Goulburn River itself and cause drawdown of more than 2 metres at 18 local bores.
