Stop the Vickery Coal Mine
Last week, the Federal Court found that the Federal Environment Minister, Sussan Ley owes all Australian children a duty to consider the harm climate change will inflict on them when she makes her decision about the Vickery coal mine extension.
This is an extraordinary, landmark decision which we can’t let the Minister attempt to bypass or ignore.
Can you add your name to our petition to the Minister calling on her to reject the Vickery coal mine extension?
To the Environment Minister, Sussan Ley,
We, the undersigned, urge you to act on the findings of the Federal Court judgement handed down last week on the Vickery coal mine extension, by refusing approval for the project.
The judgement makes it clear that if you were to approve this mine, you would be making a decision to put children at serious risk of harm and premature death as a result of its contribution to climate change.
It would be unconscionable to approve the project after this judgement.
