Where would you rather see our taxpayer money invested?

The Government wants to frack, but what does Australia want?

We’ve put together a letter you can sign below and add your ideas for the Federal Government on what they could do with our hard-earned tax dollars.

Please add your name and give us your ideas for where you’d rather see your tax dollars spent.

To Federal Parliamentarians, Ministers, Departments,

We are alarmed and disappointed to see the Federal Government now rolling out a suite of actions to prop up expensive and dangerous gas fracking across Australia without any proper public accountability.

As voters and concerned Australians, we ask that you hear our message - do not spend our money on gas fracking projects and big new gas pipelines.

Farmlands, water resources and the climate can’t afford to keep propping up polluting gas.

It’s time for Australia to grow stronger and tool up to embrace cleaner energy and storage.

There are a multitude of ways the Government could take a smarter approach to the Covid recovery. The Australian community has many ideas on how we can boost agriculture, tourism, First Nations opportunities, community health and disaster relief.

We know we can create jobs by genuinely supporting diverse Australian businesses, not throwing our money at the gas fracking industry.

We see huge opportunities to help Australia to get off polluting and expensive gas into the future, to modernise our power and heating and to save on gas and energy bills.

I ask that you oppose the measures being rolled out to fast-track gas fracking, including the ill-considered and secretive National Gas Infrastructure Plan, and take on board our ideas for how the money could be better spent.

Yours sincerely,

Please add some comments.

What would you rather see money spent on?

Here are some ideas:

Helping Australian businesses get off gas
Funding community projects in your neighbourhood
Land stewardship programs
Supporting First Nations organisations and businesses working on country
Renewable energy projects and battery storage
Disaster relief

If you really want to put our money into gas, use it to support businesses to get out of this dying industry.

Spend the money promoting already profitable renewables projects instead.

No one wants this – Australia’s majority are against a “gas-led recovery” – we all know it’s not the right path, as do you. Please know you have the support of the people to NOT proceed with this option. The absolute better options of choice, for our future betterment, are renewable energy projects and battery development, including Australian production.

I completely agree with the above comments and would rather see taxpayers money spent on a variety of other options like renewable energy projects and battery storage , disaster relief and help Australian businesses get of gas and use alternate evergy.

    Fracking should be declared illegal

Spend my money on renewable energy projects, helping workers in fossil fuel industries transition to well-paid jobs in less carbon intensive jobs, developing a low carbon concrete industry, and supporting first nations businesses and organisations.

The money could be better spent on many things including renewable energy projects and battery storage and disaster relief at this time.

Serve the people not corporations – now more than ever it is obvious we are people before we are employees.

    What the Frack ?

Stop pretending with that fracking and geo-sequestration, are realistic alternatives for profit/pollution reduction.

Instead, help the Aussies struggling with old world industries to learn new trades they can be proud of whilst promoting their health, and that of their families, communities and our nation.

Stop waisting our money on your fossil fuel dinosaurs and put it into future renewable technologies and put Australia back as a leader of change. Our kids deserve a cleaner environment if they are to exist or do you Scomo want to be the P.M and his dinosaur mates that contributed to their extinction.

The Government also tried to use NAIF to fund Adani’s Coalmine plans some years ago. Another wasteful proposal for the use of Public Funds.

(During Mr Turnbull’s time as PM)

    My suggestions:

    1. Land Stewardship

    2. Supporting First Nations organizations and a Treaty, as well as a Voice in Parliament

    3. Disaster Relief (may not be as great if stronger Climate Change action is adopted)

34 Expand renewable energy projects (see Prof Veena Sahajwalla,s ideas to use waste more productively in industrial applications)

    5. Helping Australian Businesses get out of Gas

    6. Funding Community Projects everywhere.

Subsidies for fossil fuel projects is a waste of public money. From a Government that claims to support the free market this is undue interference to support an industry that is unsustainable.
