Ride the Gas Line was an epic horseback journey of around 400 km, traversing farming country and cultural landscapes along the proposed route of the Narrabri Lateral and Queensland Hunter Gas Pipelines in north west NSW.
Led by rural women riders, the ride was undertaken in March 2026 to showcase the stories of communities, farms and environments threatened by this new gas infrastructure and celebrate the resilience of people working to protect Country and build a cleaner future.
Mid way through the Ride Lock the Gate and its alliance members hosted the Breeza event - Unite for Land and Water. At this event an historic agreement was struck between NSW Farmers, CWA of NSW, Unions NSW, Lock the Gate Alliance and Gomeroi people to endorse the Breeza Declaration + Gomeroi Statement. Together these are a clear statement of solidarity amongst stakeholders that they stand together to oppose the Narrabri Gas Project and its pipelines in order to protect land, water and Country from invasive gas infrastructure.

This opposition has been consistent and staunch for more than a decade. Lock that Gate has stood with communities for this entire time, supporting them to oppose new gas developments in NSW and protecting the places we love.
This has not ended for our communities, we still have much work to do and we have a number of plans underway. We encourage you to continue to support our work through a one-off or regular donation.
